It is with profound sadness that I inform you of the death of Prof. Akos Moldovanyi on Saturday Dec. 3rd. He died quite peacefully and would have been 94 next month. My thoughts and sympathies are with his family and many friends. He was a great fencing master and a huge supporter of the Academy and he will be sadly missed Philip Bruce

I knew Akos when he taught at Salle Paul & King's College in the 1960s. I liked him very much for his charm, courtesy and patience and it was a privilege to be taught by a master of the great Hungarian fencing tradition .

akos was my first fencing coach, at king's college london. i was sad to hear of his passing, and would be interested if the competition which bears his name ' the akos cup' is still around?

Akos was a true gentleman. I learned a lot more from him than how to use a sabre.

He was a great teacher and gentleman who drove his yellow Rolls Royce (Austin 1100)
