It is with great personal sadness that I must inform you that Professor Roy Goodall passed away last night (24/04/12), in hospital. Roy had ongoing heart problems, and had been recovering from a second stroke (the first was 4 years ago). Last week Roy fell and injured his back and this led to further complications and a worsening of the heart problem.

Roy will be sadly and greatly missed by many of his friends, colleagues and those whom he trained. Fencing has lost a totally committed coach and supporter of our sport and his passing leaves a void impossible to fill.

Roy is survived by his wife Angela   I will pass on details of the funeral service, which is expected to be during the week commencing 30/04/12.

Prof. Philip Bruce, President
